The Penon de Ifach
Calpe is dominated by The Penon de Ifach, (Calpe Rock) 332 m high and declared a Nature Reserve in 1987 because of its rich wildlife.
There is a footpath to the top, though its not for the fainthearted ! The walk takes about 2 hours and is well worth the effort the views are incredible. We walked up on New Years Day, it was amazing. It is also a magnet for serious climbers who prefer to take the more difficult way up ! |
| Restaurants
Calpe has many restaurants, those specialising in international food, and those offering typical dishes of the region, being a fishing port there is a wide range of seafood dishes and wonderful tapas bars. In the apartment we have a file in which we have tried to provide leaflets and information on various restaurants in the area. For those of you who prefer to eat at home there are plenty of places to shop providing Spanish produce and the more familiar English items. |
|
| Just a few of the many other attractions...............

|
Walk along the Arenal beach promenade towards The Penon and you reach The Port and the marina. A nice walk and you'll be ready for a drink or lunch in the bars and restaurants overlooking the sea.
In Calpe there is a street market every Saturday, and a rastro, (fleamarket) every Wednesday. Also on Saturday in nearby Jalon there is a wonderful rastro full of interesting bargains.
Explore the coast in Aquascope, a glass bottomed boat leaving from Calpe Port. Cruise around the coast as far Benidorm.
Various festivals are on throughout the year please visit Calpe tourist office or webpage for more info.

An old town inland and set on the uppermost part of the mountain peak, with houses perched into rock. Guadalest overlooks a beautiful deep valley with the turquose blue water of the river Quadalest. Well worth paying the few euros to go into the Museum which then allows you to walk above the town to the old cemetary, the view is incredible. |
|
Fonts d'Algar
This is a natural beauty spot set high in the mountains inland, only a 30 minute drive from Calpe, and on the way to Guadalest. Perhaps combine the two for a great day out. Walk the paths around the pools and swim in the chrystal clear water. There is plenty of parking, a bar and restaurant or BBQ and picnic tables if you prefer to take your own. There is also a cactus garden nearby. |
